Accommodation

Bedogno is a small hamlet in the medieval hills of Matilde of Canossa near the town of Quattro Castella. A part of the house has been recently restored by the current owners and the hamlet itself, with about twenty other families, is in an idyllic location immersed in nature. It’s the perfect place for anyone who loves being close to nature but doesn’t want to be isolated from a town.

The landscape, the local cuisine and the art history of the region is fundamentally linked to the fascinating Medieval countess, Matilde of Canossa. A unique location and with its own experience.

Bedogno can be found at the top of a hill which dominates the landscape and is only a short distance from local amenities.

You can reach the town of Quattro Castella or Montecavolo in ten minutes and the city centre of Reggio Emilia is about 18km away.

The prestigious golf club ‘Matilde di Canossa’ and its 19th century hamlet is close by , as are the castles of Bianello, Canossa and Rossena.

The house, which was restored in 2004, is about 450 square metres. It is a typical rustic property of the area which uses top quality products. A portion of the house has a stone façade while the rest is plaster.

The house is built in an ‘L’ shape with one side of the property attached to another restored house. On the other side of the property there is a garden which looks out over the hills with a splendid view.

On the ground floor there is a double garage. A bathroom/laundry and a taverna (converted stable) that has a column in the centre of the room.

On the first floor there is a large living room which is dominated by an open fireplace. There is a kitchen, bathroom and a room with loft conversion. From the living room you can reach the second floor using an open wooden staircase which has a lovely stone wall next to it. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms. A bathroom with bath and shower and a room with a beautiful view of the valley.

From the house you can reach the old hay barn which also has two floors. This has been restored externally but needs work inside. This area could either be used as an extension to the house or as separate apartments for ‘bed & breakfast’.

The garden is 2,000 square metres on two levels (with the possibility to buy further adjoining land) There is also a artesian well.
